First discovered in 2008 and then established in 2013 by fly fisher Claudio, the Old Dolomite Lodge offers world-renowned wild trout fishing in Italy, You will enjoy remarkable Italian cuisine, and comfortable basic accommodations in a secluded mountain setting. The Old Dolomite Lodge is truly one of the classic fly fishing lodge experiences in the Italian Alps.
The Marble Trout owes its long uncontested position to its genetics and corresponding character. It starts with its marbled "coat," which provides perfect camouflage, making it hardly detectable when lying motionless on the bottom. As prey fish approach its hiding spot, it strikes rapidly. Juvenile fish content themselves with insects and crayfish. Once their distinctive mouths are large enough, there's no stopping the Marble Trout, as it devours anything it can get. Even smaller conspecifics are not safe from it. No wonder this apex predator – it can grow up to over a meter long – reigns supreme at the top of the food chain.
The Marmorata Trout is very shy, intelligent and extremely difficult to catch. With luck, patience, and moving quietly to remain invisible by the water, it can be achieved.
